Pods are aimed at producing quick ball to disorganise the defence. Three quick phases with the pods should be sufficient. Otherwise players may not be able to get back into position quick enough. However your set plays should mix the number of phases pods are used for. Your team should be flexible enough to allow the ball to be passed away if there are glaring gaps in the defence.


Split your forwards into two pods of three plus one player to act as scrum half (9). Start the two pods together at the side of at least four gates of cones. The 9 pops the ball to a player in the first pod. They run through the nearest gate, present the ball for 9 to pass to the next pod who are arcing around to attack the second gate. Repeat for the first pod to attach through the third gate and so on. Keep the exercise slow to make it more game realistic.

When trying out various dribbling basketball drills, remember to;


Passing is the other fundamental skill that every player needs to learn to play basketball at any level. Teams that are good at passing enjoy easy baskets and have an easier time playing offense. This is because the players can move the ball quickly and frequently until an opening is found.


Developing passing skills in basketball starts with improving reaction time. The player making the pass needs to react as fast as possible when the opportunity to do so arises. On the other hand, the target player should react fast to the oncoming ball and handle it like a pro.


Shooting also requires a good integration of mental attitude and confidence. Players with these attributes stretch out the defense, opening potential driving lanes for taking the ball towards the hoop.


Essentially, basketball dribbling is about holding onto the ball more. Although this often pumps up the fans, it stagnates the offense and gives the defense some time to rest. In other words, most basketball dribblers focus on themselves instead of helping the team win.


A proper warm-up is crucial for your players before getting into actual drills. This activity will get their bodies ready for the rigors of subsequent practices. From a stationary position, let the players wrap the ball around their waist and then make another wrap around their ankles. Let them repeat this for around 30 seconds or 1 minute and then switch direction.


This activity involves pound dribbling the ball with the head and chest up while standing straight up to an imaginary defender. Importantly, advise your players to use their entire body (arm, shoulder, and core muscles) to generate enough force for the dribbles so that the ball bounces back to their hands quickly. These quick and hard bounces are necessary to maintain possession of the ball and make it harder for the opponent to grab it.


The front-to-back dribbling technique is similar to a crossover only in that it involves moving the ball from the front to the back. These two dribble practice drills are often used together. To perform the front-to-back dribble drill, have the players bend the knee slightly and dribble the ball from the front to the back. Let them dribble for 30 seconds to 1 minute on the right hand before switching to the left-hand side.


To execute this drill, the player starts by taking a wide stance so that the right foot is forward and the left foot is back. Next, have the player dribble the ball from the right hand to the left hand. As soon as the ball is in the right hand, the player should jump and alternate the position of the legs so that the right foot is back while the left foot is forward. Next, he dribbles the ball between the legs again. As with other basketball dribbling drills, the player should start slow before building up speed.

Knucklebones, also known as scatter jacks, snobs, astragalus, tali, dibs, fivestones, jacks, or jackstones, among many other names,[1] is a game of dexterity played with a number of small objects that are thrown up, caught, and manipulated in various manners. It is ancient in origin and is found in various cultures worldwide.


The name "knucklebones" is derived from the Ancient Greek version of the game, which uses the astragalus (a bone in the ankle, or hock) of a sheep.[2] However, different variants of the game from various cultures use other objects, including stones, seashells, seeds, and cubes.[3]


Modern knucklebones consist of six points, or knobs, projecting from a common base and are usually made of metal or plastic. The winner is the first player to successfully complete a prescribed series of throws, which, though similar, differ widely in detail. The simplest throw consists in either tossing up one stone, the jack, or bouncing a ball and picking up one or more stones or knucklebones from the table while it is in the air. This continues until all five stones or knucklebones have been picked up. Another throw consists of tossing up first one stone, then two, then three, and so on and catching them on the back of the hand. Different throws have received distinctive names, such as "riding the elephant", "peas in the pod", "horses in the stable",[4] and "frogs in the well".


The talus bones of hooved animals (also known as astragali) are found in archaeological excavations related to the period starting from 5000 B.C. much more frequently than other bones. Astragalus, being almost symmetric, has only four sides on which it may rest and is an early example of the game of chance. Knucklebones are believed to be an early precursor of dice. In contrast to dice, the astragalus is not entirely symmetric, with the broad side having a chance 0.38 and the other side having a chance 0.12.[6] However, variations of the game can also be played with stones, seashells, or seeds.


Ancient Greek tradition and historiography ascribed the invention of knucklebones to various figures. Sophocles, in a written fragment of one of his works, ascribed the game to the mythical figure Palamedes, who supposedly taught it to his Greek countrymen during the Trojan War. According to a still more ancient tradition, Zeus, perceiving that Ganymede longed for his playmates upon Mount Ida, gave him Eros for a companion and golden jacks with which to play. On the other hand, both Herodotus and Plato ascribe a foreign origin to the game. Plato, in Phaedrus, names the Egyptian god Thoth as its inventor, while Herodotus relates that the Lydians, during a period of famine in the days of King Atys, originated this game and indeed almost all other games, with the exception of draughts.[4][7] Both the Iliad and the Odyssey contain allusions to games similar in character to knucklebones.[4]
